Downs and Ups
March through April has been a period of extremes, weather included. Two family deaths - my two lovely brothers-in-law, Gordon and Fred, and the long-term hospitalisation of one of my sisters-in-law. So very sad. And my husband fell on the way back from his brother's funeral and hit his head, resulting in a black eye and nasty grazes. It knocked him for six, but he still managed to drive to the airport, fly from Stansted to Lourdes, then drive back home. We are just getting over the accompanying stress of all the above.
This last weekend it was our village's big annual local talent exhibition and I manned a stall for my art group - two tiring days during which I was happy to be able to complete two pastel portraits, the first in a series of paintings where I will give a donation of 20 euros per sale to the charity association I support in aid of refuge animals here in France - Les Amis des Animaux. It was a good show, but badly publicised, clashed with a few other fairs in the area and had very few visitors because of it. Still, I sold a flower painting, got the promise of three orders for dog/cat portraits and an invitation to exhibit my work at another exhibition in the local market town of Maubourguet in June.
